What is a devotional gathering?
Devotional gatherings are occasions where friends, neighbours and families join together in praise of God and building spiritual bonds. Programs are organised with communal singing and reading of Bahá’í Writings (and at times Inter-Faith programs with readings and prayers from other world religions). There are no rituals or priests in the Baha’i Faith therefore each gathering is unique and organised by all ages in the community focused on worship.
Bahá’í communities hold devotional gatherings and all are welcome. They are held in a variety of settings, in homes, centres or outdoor settings. Friends who join are welcome to participate by reciting readings and prayers or to meditate and enjoy the spiritual atmosphere.

Importance of Prayer
The Bahá’í Writings emphasise the importance of prayer as a source of nourishment for the soul, just as food is a source of nourishment for our bodies. The impulse to pray is seen as a natural one, stemming from man’s love for his Creator. When praying, Baha’is use the words of Bahá’u’lláh, the founder of the Baha’i Faith, His Successor ‘Abdu’l-Bahá and His forerunner the Bab, the Word of God has the most profound spiritual effect.
